Sporting Gijon have agreed to an early release of Nacho Novo, who has signed for Polish side Legia Warsaw.
The 32-year-old arrived at Sporting in 2010 after a fruitful six-year spell at Scottish Premier League club Rangers, but failed to impose himself at the Spanish side, making 41 league appearances and scoring seven goals.
Novo still had one more year to run on his Sporting contract, but the La Liga strugglers were also interested in parting company with the striker.
He has signed a contract until the summer of 2013 with Legia Warsaw, who drew with Sporting Lisbon 2-2 in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 stage on Thursday night.
Legia sit second in the Polish Ekstraklasa, just four points behind league leaders Slask Wroclaw.
