Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong says the team are not worried about the challenge of defending champions Manchester United.
City have seen their lead in the English Premier League standings shrink to just two points, with cross-town rivals United right behind them.
But according to Netherlands international De Jong, the front runners will be focusing on matters within their control during the climax to the title battle.
“We are honestly not thinking about United,” De Jong told the Sunday Mirror.
“We aren’t feeling any pressure from them because the only pressure we feel is what we put on ourselves.”
“We expect this fight to go on until the last games of the season. United have won the Premier League before, but I don’t think that gives them an advantage.”
“Last season City showed they are winners, in the FA Cup. There are winners everywhere at the club.”
“Yaya Toure has won the biggest trophies with Barcelona and Roberto Mancini has won many titles as a player and a coach in Italy.”
