Serie A outfit Cesena have announced Mario Beretta has been appointed as the club’s new coach.
Beretta replaces Daniele Arrigoni, who was dismissed after Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at home to AC Milan, a result which made it five games without a win for Cesena.
The defeat also left Cesena at the bottom of the table as they now sit seven points adrift of safety.
The new coach will be presented to the press at Stadio Dino Manuzzi on Tuesday and will face Chievo in his first game in charge on Sunday.
According to Goal.com Italy, Beretta is believed to have signed a contract until June with the option of an extension should he guide the team to safety.
The 52-year-old did not enjoy the most prosperous of playing careers but and began coaching at the age of 23.
Since then he has been in charge of a variety of clubs including this weekend’s opponents Chievo.
Parma, Siena, Lecce, Torino, Greek side PAOK and most recently Brescia have all been under Beretta’s stewardship.
He becomes Cesena’s third coach this season following the departures of Marco Giampaolo and Arrigoni.
